I need urgent help

As with any type of website, Side by Side needs to be updated, and as a result, the browsers and devices it works on need to be kept up to date too. This page shares some useful tips on making sure the site works well on your device and browser.

What is a device?

A device is the phone, computer, laptop, iPad, etc that you’re accessing the site from.

What is a browser?

A browser is the type of internet service you're using; it could be Chrome, Safari, Firefox, for example.

How do I make sure my browser is up to date?

Safari:
Safari is included with the iPhone's operating system, so updating iOS will ensure you have the latest version of Safari.
1. Go to Settings > General > Software Update
2. If there are multiple software updates, choose the one you want to install
3. Tap Install Now

Chrome:
1. Open the App Store
2. Tap your profile icon in the top right
3. Scroll to Available Updates

Firefox:
1. Open Firefox
2. Click the hamburger icon in the top right corner
3. Select Help
4. Click About Firefox
5. If an update is available, a pop-up window will appear with a button to install it

What is a cache?

A cache in a computer is a temporary storage location for data that's frequently accessed, allowing for faster access than the computer's main hard drive.

It’s a good idea to regularly clear your cache. It can help the performance of the sites you’re on and help format the website properly

How to clear my cache?

Safari:
1. Select the History tab.
2. Select Clear History at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
3. Choose a time frame to delete, such as the last hour, today, or all history.
4. Click Clear History

Chrome:
1. Open Chrome
2. Click More in the top right corner
3. Select Clear browsing data
4. Check the boxes for Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files
5. Choose a time range to delete
6. Click Clear browsing data

Firefox:
1. Click the Firefox menu (three lines) in the top right corner
2. Select Settings
3. Click Privacy & Security on the left side
4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data
5. Click Clear Data
6. In the new dialog box, click Clear Now
7. Close all open Firefox instances

Please try these steps, alongside logging out and logging in

If you’re still seeing issues with the service, please email sidebysideonline@mind.org.uk with details of the device and browser you're using and description of what the issue is. Screenshots are really helpful too.
