I need urgent help

Louise is a developer who is helping to create the new Side by Side app.

Why is working with Mind and other NGOs important to you?

"Tech can be an amazing force for good. It can remove barriers and help make connections at exactly the right moment. There’s no better example of that than what Mind and similar organisations are doing. From my perspective, it gives the work weight and meaning in the most human ways possible."

What are you most excited about with the app launch?

"It gives a new and even more accessible way to interact with Side by Side, with features that aren’t as achievable on a website. Every bit of feedback or new feature is an opportunity to keep improving support for users, regardless of platform."

What’s been the most challenging part of developing this app?

"The whole team was aware that this app needed to be right on every level, which raises the stakes considerably. We’ve worked hard to stay consistent with what users already know. Applying all of the features known and loved on the website is challenging to do on a app. It’s a lot more challenging than it looks but that’s fine - developers like a challenge!"

What benefit do you hope the app will bring to the community?

"I hope that support feels closer. When you're struggling, the last thing you need is barriers. If the app reduces that barrier, that's everything. Mental health support shouldn't feel hard to reach."
